As with everything made by Dr. Bronner’s, this pump soap is made with all natural and organic ingredients. The first ingredient is sugar (sucrose), but don’t be alarmed. While sugar wrecks the inside of the body by causing insulin spikes, irritation, and acidifies the bloodstream, it is actually really good for the outside of our bodies, especially our hands.
There are many ‘flavors’ that this comes in – lavender, peppermint, tea tree, and more, including an unscented version that is also great for baby soap. We tend to get the peppermint more than the others, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. Both lavender and tea tree in general are great for the skin and peppermint gives a nice cooling and awakening sensation in all of the Dr. Bronner’s products. While the “scents” in these are actually from essential oils and shouldn’t cause any irritations or sensitivities in adults, it could be overwhelming for babies – hence the unscented version being labeled as “baby soap.”
This hand soap can also be used as face wash, body wash, and even shampoo (although you’ll want a complementing conditioner). In fact, we keep it in the sink in the bathroom as both hand and night face wash. A little goes a long, lathery way too!
You can find the sugar soap and many other Dr. Bronner’s products in a number of retail and grocery stores, including Whole Foods and Target, as well as online at Amazon and Thrive Marketplace.
