The air inside our homes can often be more polluted than the outside air. As air is pulled into our homes, it can carry fumes, pollutants, dander, allergens, and more that will accumulate in our homes instead of pass through. Proper air filtration will grab and clean these elements and trap them in the filter substrate in your heating/air units. Unfortunately, many air filters are often made with bleached papers, noxious materials, and fiberglass and pass on just as many toxins as they are supposed to be filtering out.
In my research, I landed on Nordic Pure and found them to be trustworthy and well made. Their filters are economical, made in the USA with recycled materials, and have multiple levels of filtration and sizes to suit your needs. We started using the MERV-8 level filters and have noticed a difference in air quality without increasing our electricity bill. If you have allergies or live in a more polluted area, you may want to use a higher MERV number. Or, if you live in the middle of nowhere on a pristine patch of unpolluted land and just need a light dander and dust filter, you could use a lower MERV number. Either way, I feel much better with these than the cheap, flimsy blue fiberglass filters.
