I took this photo to capture the buds growing on the tree just off the deck behind our house.
“What an inspiration that could be,” I thought, “the first buds of spring.”
I didn’t notice the real inspiration until just now.
Do you see it? It’s only just visible, faintly glimmering in the sunlight.
A spider has woven it’s web, perched into the bend of the branch tip.
The audacity! The ignorance! Building?? Now?? With everything that’s going on?!
That’s the thing with spiders. What do they do when you tear down their web? They rebuild it.
When the rain comes and washes a spider out? They’re back up the spout again.
Oblivious? Maybe. Impervious? Sometimes. Resilient? Absolutely.
The world may not be the same again tomorrow, but could we rebuild? Could we try again? Could shake ourselves off and get ready for the next go?
I’m thankful for the lesson, itsy bitsy spider. Here’s to getting back up again tomorrow – or whenever the sun dries up all this rain.
